Due to the introduction of video surveillance systems and unmanned aerial vehicles in their operational activities, border guards of the Chop border guard detachment managed to significantly increase the reliability of state border protection.

Recently, most cases of detection of offenses in the border area have been detected thanks to the use of modern technical means of photo recording and video surveillance.

Thanks to the use of bispectral cameras, border guards of the Palad Komarivtsi border guard section of the Uzhhorod border guard division managed to detain two groups of offenders who were trying to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border. Both groups were moving in the dark.

The first of them was detected three hundred meters from the border. A border patrol with a sniffer dog was sent to search for the unknowns. The detainees, a man and two women, did not have any documents on them. Later, law enforcement officers found out that all three were local residents who intended to cross the border with Slovakia outside of border crossing points and then get to Germany.

The other three were found half a kilometer from the border. To track the offenders’ movements, border guards launched a drone into the sky. The three men who were detained were also local residents. A sniffer dog helped stop their illegal attempt.

All detainees were taken to the border guard unit. Their cases will be referred to the court, which will determine the punishment for attempting to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine.
